Installing PC Study Bible Version 3
Do I have to have Version 2 to install Version 3?
No. Since PC Study Bible Version 3 is a new and separate program, it will install and run with or without Version 2 on your system. None of the files are shared.
Note: If you have Study Notes or verse additions to the Treasury, your older Version 2 files will be found when installing Version 3 and converted or saved in your new 3.0 directory. We recommend you make a backup copy of any important files, such as your Study Notes, before installing Version 3.
Do I have to remove PC Study Bible Version 2 before installing Version 3?
No. Since Version 3 is a new and separate program, it will install and run with or without Version 2 on your system. None of the files are shared. You can run both programs for as long as you like.
Note: If you have Study Notes or verse additions to the Treasury, your older Version 2 files will be found when installing Version 3 and converted or saved in your new 3.0 directory. We recommend you make a backup copy of any important files, such as your Study Notes, before installing Version 3.
Should I install Version 3 to the same directory as Version 2?
No. These are two separate programs, and all the files for one version are completely independent from the other version. Installing them to the same directory will only make it difficult to remove either one individually.
Note: If you have Study Notes or verse additions to the Treasury, your older Version 2 files will be found when installing Version 3 and converted or saved in your new 3.0 directory. We recommend you make a backup copy of any important files, such as your Study Notes, before installing Version 3.

- Choose the UNINSTALL option. Follow any additional instructions that may appear on screen.
If you do not have an uninstall option, or if the files could not be removed this way (as indicated by an error message), try the following few steps under Section II.
Section II. Since PC Study Bible Version 2 makes no entries in your systems Registry, you can simply remove the files from your Hard Drive.

- In the Right window, locate the File Folder titled PCSTUDY.
- Single-click this folder to highlight it. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
- Answer YES TO ALL if asked to confirm deletion of the PC Study Bible program.
- If you want to remove even older versions of PC Study Bible on your system, you can also delete C:\BIBLE30 and C:\OLDSTUDY.
- Close Windows Explorer.
How do I install PC Study Bible 3 on Windows NT?
PC Study Bible was not initially designed to run on Windows NT, nor was it tested in that environment. We do not offer Technical Support if a problem arises. This is true for both Version 2 and Version 3.
For Version 2: Many NT users, however, have successfully installed and run PC Study Bible Version 2 on their NT systems. "Many" meaning almost all; it is rare that it does not work.
For Version 3: The latest version of PC Study Bible Version 3, which runs on Windows NT, is available. KB521 is the solution for NT and follow the instructions there, even though KB521 only mentions Windows XP and Windows 2000.
When installing the program, the Reference Works Manager is blank. The program only has the King James Version when I run it. How do I activate the other Reference Works?
PC Study Bible Version 3 must be installed from the CD-ROM Drive with the letter designation closest to the beginning of the alphabet. If you use a computer with multiple CD-ROM drives, you must install the program from the lettered drive closest to Drive A that the computer views as a piece of hardware, not a networked drive. This includes CD-R and DVD drives that can read CDs as well. For example, if you have a Drive G and a Drive H that can both read CDs, you must install the program from Drive G, since G is closer to the beginning of the alphabet.
If you have already loaded the program files, the next few steps explain how to transfer the Reference Works to your Hard Drive:
- Place the PC Study Bible 3 CD in the appropriate CD-ROM Drive. Hold the SHIFT key down as you insert it. Keep holding the shift key down for at least 20 seconds after you've closed the CD-ROM drive door.
- After the drive has stopped spinning to recognize the CD, let go of the SHIFT key.
- Now choose START, move up to PROGRAMS, select PC STUDY BIBLE 3.0, slide over and click on REFERENCE WORK MANAGER.
- From here you should be able to transfer the remaining modules from your CD-ROM Drive to your Hard Drive.
If you have the CD in the appropriate Drive, yet the Reference Work Manager is still blank, the modules can be loaded via the following procedure:
- Open Windows Explorer. This can be done by choosing START, selecting PROGRAMS, then clicking on WINDOWS EXPLORER.
- In the left window, open the Program Files folder. This can be done by clicking the "+" plus sign, or by double-clicking on the folder.
- In the left window, open Biblesoft.
- Still in the left window, now open PC Study Bible 3.0.
- Single-click to highlight the RefWorks folder.
- After displaying this folder, find the icon in the left pane that represents your CD ROM Drive.
- Click the "+" next to your CD-ROM Drive icon.
- In the left pane, single-click on the folder titled RefWorks.
- From the top tool bar, choose EDIT and SELECT ALL.
- Now choose EDIT and COPY.
- In the left window, find the RefWorks folder back on your HardDrive. This is the one we found earlier, in Step 5.
- From the top tool bar, choose EDIT and PASTE. If asked to overwrite or replace an existing file, answer NO. You may be required to do this quite a few times.
- When this copy function is complete choose EDIT from the top tool bar, and click SELECT ALL.
- Hold down the ALT key and press the ENTER key at the same time. A Properties window will appear.
- Near the bottom right there will be a Read Only checkbox. This box should not be grayed out, and there should not be a check in it. Click on this box as many times as necessary until the box is clear (not checked).
- Click OK on the Properties window. You do not need to click Apply.
- You may now exit Windows Explorer.
- Remove the PC Study Bible CD from your CD-ROM Drive.
If you receive a message that states, "The Source and Destination filenames are the same", you did not click on the appropriate RefWorks folder. Follow these instructions again from Step 5.
Copy Macros
What do the copy macros actually do?
GetBibleRef
This will place a Scripture in Word 97. The PC Study Bible program must be open for this process to work. On a blank line in Word, type a valid Bible reference (with a proper book title or abbreviation). Leave the cursor on the same line as the Bible Reference. Choose INSERT from the top tool bar, and select SCRIPTURE (or press Alt+I, and select SCRIPTURE). The reference will be instantly inserted into your Word document. The version displayed will be your default Bible Version from PC Study Bible.
PastePCSB
This option should be used whenever you have copied Greek or Hebrew texts from PC Study Bible to the Windows Clipboard. Simply switch to Word, position the cursor where you want to paste the text, then select EDIT and choose the PastePCSB menu option.
Format Greek
This can be used if you have accidentally pasted Greek text from PC Study Bible without using the PastePCSB menu option. To use this macro, move the cursor to the beginning of the Greek text, then choose FORMAT and select the GREEK menu option.
Format Hebrew
This can be used if you have accidentally pasted Hebrew text from PC Study Bible without using the PastePCSB menu option. To use this macro, move the cursor to the beginning of the Hebrew text, then choose FORMAT and select the HEBREW menu option.
When installing the Macro I received a Runtime error. What should I do?
Due to the many variations of Word, and the many different ways these documents can interact, occasionally an insignificant problem can arise. Many of these are harmless. The Macro can work properly despite such an installation error.
If a Runtime Error 4198 appears, click OK or End. Then continue with the macro installation.
How can I hide the Macro icons?
You can display or hide the PCSB toolbar using the View | Toolbars menu item in Word.
- Open MS Word.
- From the Top Tool Bar, choose VIEW and click TOOLBARS. This will open a Toolbars window.
- There is a list of available toolbars on the left side of this box. Find "PCSB". If you want to hide this option, click on the checked box to remove the check.
- Click OK.
If you decide you want to display this toolbar, simply follow these instructions again, only this time click the empty box in front of "PCSB" to add a check there. Once you click OK, the PC Study Bible macros toolbar will once again be available.
